Biography

Hanne Duindam is an Assistant Professor in Forensic Child and Youth Care Sciences at Utrecht University. She received her PhD in Forensic Child and Youth Care Science from the University of Amsterdam in 2021, where her dissertation evaluated the effectiveness of a prison-based dog training program aimed at improving wellbeing and reducing behavioral problems among incarcerated juveniles and adults. Her key research interests focus on prevention and effective treatment of youth criminality, along with fostering a stronger connection between academia and society to develop solutions for complex contemporary issues. Currently, her research involves identifying and preventing violent youth radicalization in the context of misinformation and conspiracy beliefs. Duindam also plays a vital role in co-coordinating interdisciplinary courses on Youth Criminality and Youth Protection Judicial Interventions, which are designed for students aspiring to work at the intersection of law, developmental psychopathology, and juvenile justice. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she supervises master's theses and conducts clinical courses in Child Development, Treatment, Testing, and Observation Skills.
