Hans-Jørgen Albrechtsen is a Professor in Water Systems at DTU Environment. He holds a Master's degree in Microbial Ecology from the University of Copenhagen (1986) and completed his PhD in Groundwater Microbiology in 1991. He has been employed at DTU since 1999 and has focused his research on groundwater and drinking water microbiology since 1987. His research has resulted in over 400 international publications and he has supervised more than 30 PhD students. Notably, he received the Grundfos Prize in 2012 for his research on groundwater and drinking water.
