Biography

Hans Ulrich Bächtold is a former project collaborator for the Heinrich Bullinger correspondence edition. He studied history, church history, and Swedish at the University of Zurich and earned his doctorate in 1980 with a thesis on Heinrich Bullinger. From 1983 to 2003, he served as the coordinator and scientific assistant for the Bullinger correspondence edition. He was awarded the Conrad-Ferdinand-Meyer Prize in 1994 as part of the editorial team for their scholarly work. From 2004 to 2018, he worked on the 'Tigurinerchronik' of Heinrich Bullinger and authored several publications on Reformation history. His research focuses primarily on the Early Modern period, particularly the Reformation, the life of Heinrich Bullinger, and chronicle studies. He has contributed to various scholarly society memberships and editorial boards related to historical and Protestant studies.
