Professor Hans-Joachim Bungartz leads research in the field of scientific computing, focusing on various aspects of informatics and the entire simulation pipeline. His work encompasses modeling, numerical algorithms, efficient parallel implementations, software for high-performance computing (HPC), and data analytics. Professor Bungartz has been actively involved in the academic community as a member of the board of directors of the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre and has served on the advisory boards of various HPC centers. He was a chairman of the DFG Commission Infrastructure for seven years and held the position of Chairman of the Executive Board of the German Research Education Network from 2011 to 2020. His contributions also extend to the European University Association as a member of the Steering Committee for Doctoral Education since 2016.
