Biography

Hans de Kruijf is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cultural Anthropology at Utrecht University, having been appointed in 2008. He received his PhD in August 2006, with a dissertation that analyzed the (re)production of diasporic Indianness among Hindu Muslim descendants of indentured laborers in globally connected Guyana. Currently, he is engaged in a multi-sited exploration of Muslim affiliation within Indo-Guyanese circles in Guyana, New York, and Toronto. His research interests include religion, ethnicity, conflict, globalization, transnationalism, the Indian diaspora, social networks, and psychological anthropology.
