Biography

Prof. Michael Gerndt has been responsible for parallel computer architecture in the Department of Informatics at the Technische Universität München (TUM) since 2000. His research focuses on programming tools for the efficient use of parallel supercomputers, optimizing efficiency in cloud applications, and automatic performance analysis and optimization. His expertise evolved through involvement in the Periscope Tuning Framework and the German supercomputer project SUPRENUM where he completed his doctorate in 1989. He previously worked for two years at the University of Vienna as a postdoctoral researcher and served at TUM’s Forschungszentrum Jülich research center. He earned his lecturing qualification at TUM in 1998 and has contributed significantly to the field of efficient shared virtual memory systems, supervising several research projects aimed at enhancing supercomputing capabilities.
