Dr. Hans Löfsten

Biography

Hans Löfsten is a Full Professor in Engineering Economic Analysis at Chalmers University of Technology. His research focuses on economic analysis and technology innovation, contributing to efficient resource allocation, strengthened competitiveness, and long-term growth. Löfsten's primary areas of activity include technology management, technology transfer, innovation management, entrepreneurship, and operations management. He earned his Doctorate in Economics from the University of Gothenburg in 1992 and was appointed Docent in Technology Management at Chalmers in 1999, later becoming a Full Professor in 2005 and a Full Professor of Engineering Economic Analysis in 2007 within the Department of Technology Management and Economics. Löfsten has held various positions, including at the Gothenburg Research Institute and Institute Management Innovation Technology, and he has extensive experience in undergraduate and postgraduate education. He has authored textbooks in industrial management and managerial economics and has supervised ten doctoral candidates to completion. His publication record includes articles in reputable journals such as Research Policy, Small Business Economics, and others, with notable work in bibliometric studies focusing on science parks and incubators. He also serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Technology Transfer.
