Biography

Hany Farag is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Lassonde School of Engineering, York University. His research interests include the integration of renewable generation, energy storage, electric vehicles, renewable hydrogen, natural gas, and smart grids. Since joining York, Farag has secured $500,000 in funding from NSERC for power utilities and has led the development of teaching and research laboratories for a new Electrical Engineering program, valued at $2 million. In 2018, he received the Early Researcher Award from the Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Science. He obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering with honors from Assiut University in Egypt in 2004 and 2007, respectively, and completed his Ph.D. in electrical engineering at the University of Waterloo in June 2013. Following that, he was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Waterloo before joining York University in July 2013.
