Biography

Haotian Chen is a lecturer in Biomedical Engineering at the James Watt School of Engineering at the University of Glasgow, United Kingdom. He obtained his PhD, focusing on stretchable electronic systems, from Peking University in 2018. He has worked as a research scientist at EPFL, Switzerland, under Prof. Stephanie Lacour from 2019 to 2022, where he studied the application of soft electronics in neuroprosthetics. Prior to joining the University of Glasgow in July 2023, he was a junior professor at CNRS-IEMN, France. Dr. Chen has published over 50 journal and conference papers in leading publications such as Advanced Functional Materials, ACS Nano, and Nano Energy, with a notable h-index of 26. His research focuses on the human sensorimotor system, developing innovative, soft, biocompatible electronic devices that interface with the human body to study interaction processes between humans and their environment quantitatively. His primary research areas include the design and fabrication of soft electronic devices and systems, connecting prosthetic tactile nervous systems, and haptic feedback teleoperation.
