Biography

Professor Harald Räcke, born in 1973, specializes in efficient algorithms and theoretical analysis of algorithms. His research focuses on the development of approximation algorithms, online algorithms, graph partitioning, scheduling in parallel systems, and metric embeddings. He studied Computer Science at the University of Paderborn, where he received his doctorate in 2003 under the supervision of Professor Meyer auf der Heide. Following his doctoral studies, Professor Räcke completed postdoctoral research at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and the Toyota Technological Institute in Chicago. In 2007, he joined the University of Warwick as an Assistant Professor. He was promoted to Associate Professor in the Algorithms and Complexity group at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in 2011. Professor Räcke has received several awards for his contributions to the field, including a Paper Award at the 40th ACM Symposium on Theory of Computing in 2008 and a Paper Award at the 43rd IEEE Symposium on Foundations of Computer Science in 2002.
