Dr. Harboyan Patil

Biography

Described as a musician of exceptional intelligence, Patil Harboyan is a Montreal-based Armenian pianist leading a versatile musical career as a performer, chamber musician, and teacher. He holds a Doctorate in Musical Arts from Stonybrook University, where he studied on a full scholarship. Patil is a recipient of various grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Quebec and has been recognized in competitions. He has performed solo recitals and chamber music concerts across North America, collaborating with notable musicians such as Kimy McLaren, Isabel Bayrakdarian, Aline Kutan, and members of the Fibonacci Trio and Fitzwilliam Quartet. A core aspect of his life as a musician includes his role as a founding member of the Ararat Trio, which debuted at Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall in 2007. The Trio de l’Île performs regularly in Quebec. His recording with cellist Heather Tuach, titled 'Music Armenia' (Divine Art Records), received praise from the prestigious music magazine Gramophone as a 'delightful disc of discoveries'. In addition to his performing career, Patil is an active pedagogue, serving on jury panels for music competitions and currently teaching at the University of Quebec in Montreal and the Schulich School of Music at McGill University.
