Dr. Harini Suresh

Biography

Harini Suresh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Brown University, where she joined in 2024. She is affiliated with the Center for Technological Responsibility and Reimagining Redesign (CNTR) and the Data Science Institute. Harini received her B.Sc., M.Eng., and PhD in Computer Science from MIT, followed by a postdoctoral position at Cornell University. Her research addresses issues of equity, accountability, and agency in technology, with a particular emphasis on machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) systems. Her work is interdisciplinary, integrating concepts from Science, Technology, and Society (STS), feminist theory, human-computer interaction (HCI), and critical computing. Dr. Suresh's ongoing research involves participatory design of ML tools for data activism, exploring the limits and possibilities of participatory AI in today’s technology landscape.
