Dr. Harlan Krumholz

Biography

Harlan Krumholz is a cardiologist-scientist at Yale University and Yale New Haven Hospital. He serves as the Harold H. Hines, Jr. Professor of Medicine and is a leading expert in improving the quality and efficiency of care, eliminating disparities, promoting equity, and enhancing the integrity and transparency of medical research. He engages patients in their care and works to avoid wasteful practices, focusing on harnessing digital transformation to accelerate knowledge generation and facilitate care delivery aligned with patient needs. Dr. Krumholz directs the Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE) at Yale, a dedicated organization that improves health and health care practices through its research. Notably, he co-founded the Yale Open Data Access (YODA) Project to increase access to clinical research data, as well as medRxiv, a preprint server for medical and health sciences. A member of several prestigious organizations, such as the National Academy of Medicine, Dr. Krumholz has received multiple honors for his contributions to the field, including the Distinguished Scientist designation from the American Heart Association. He is actively pursuing innovative avenues in research that leverage the growing bodies of data to enhance patient care and improve healthcare systems across the board.
