Dr. Harold Kudler

Biography

Harold S. Kudler is a Medical Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University. His research interests encompass the psychological trauma and its relation to posttraumatic stress disorders, focusing on the integration of psychoanalytic and biological perspectives. Dr. Kudler has developed treatment guidelines for posttraumatic stress disorder and investigates the intergenerational effects of traumatic stress, as well as the neurobiology of dreaming. He is also dedicated to developing educational programs that equip mental health professionals with a practical synthesis of psychodynamic and descriptive psychiatric perspectives. Dr. Kudler has a rich educational background, having earned his M.D. from the State University of New York, Brooklyn, in 1979. In addition to his current role, he has held various academic and clinical positions, including Associate Consulting Professor and Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. His extensive grants portfolio reflects his commitment to advancing understanding and treatment of PTSD among military veterans and the broader population.
