Biography

Harpreet S. Bhatia, MD, MAS, is a cardiologist and epidemiologist with a clinical research focus on the prevention of cardiovascular disease. As an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego, he is heavily involved in training medical students, residents, and fellows. Dr. Bhatia is the Assistant Program Director for the Cardiovascular Diseases Fellowship. His research interests include the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, particularly those related to lipids and lipoprotein(a), and the methodological improvements in coronary artery calcium scoring. He has received grant support for various research initiatives from the National Institutes of Health and has published extensively in leading academic journals, including Circulation, JACC, and JAMA Cardiology. Dr. Bhatia completed his master's degree in clinical research and a post-doctoral fellowship in cardiovascular epidemiology after earning his medical degree from Emory University. He also served as Chief Resident during his Internal Medicine residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
