Dr. Harriet Kemp

Biography

Harriet Kemp is a Clinical Associate Professor at Imperial College London specializing in Pain Research within the Department of Surgery & Cancer. As a Senior Clinical Lecturer, she plays a pivotal role in advancing the understanding of chronic pain, particularly focusing on long-term pain-related outcomes associated with traumatic injury and critical illness. In addition to her research, she holds the position of Honorary Consultant in Pain Medicine at Chelsea & Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, where she leads a specialist neuropathic pain service. Her main research interests include sensory profiling, quantitative sensory testing, and the identification of biomarkers related to pain experiences in patients. Dr. Kemp is also actively involved in several clinical studies including the ADVANCE study, which investigates the physical and psychosocial outcomes of combat injuries and the PainCRITICAL study examining the development of pain in critically ill patients. She has received accolades such as the Clulow Award from the British Pain Society for her research into neuropathic pain. Dr. Kemp is a founding member of PAINTRAIN and serves on various committees related to pain management and research.
