Dr. Harrison Zhu

Biography

Harrison Bo Hua Zhu is an Assistant Professor in the Section of Health Data Science at the University of Copenhagen. He is involved in research focusing on the development of probabilistic machine learning and deep learning methods to understand complex patterns within social and environmental sciences and public health. His specific interests include leveraging deep learning methods to enhance the capabilities of classical probabilistic models to handle high-dimensional datasets effectively. This includes designing novel models and algorithms that incorporate multimodal and multiresolution data sources, such as time series, satellite imagery, and text data, to better understand human behavior and health outcomes. Harrison obtained his integrated master's degree (MSci) in Mathematics from Imperial College London and completed his PhD at the same institution, focusing on modern statistics and statistical machine learning. He has also worked as a Research Scientist at Fano, specializing in automatic speech recognition. Harrison is a member of the Imperial College London COVID-19 Response Team, contributing to research during the COVID-19 pandemic. He actively seeks potential collaborations in his research area.
