Biography

Harry Ischiropoulos is a Research Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. He serves as the Director of Neonatology Research at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. His research focuses on biological chemistry, particularly the role of nitric oxide in various physiological processes including cardiovascular and neuronal functions. His work involves mass spectrometry-based proteomics to investigate molecular mechanisms of nitric oxide signaling and its effects on post-translational modifications of proteins. He has contributed to the understanding of protein function and metabolic processes in relation to neurodegeneration and related disorders. He utilizes biochemical analysis and advanced technologies to explore the consequences of specific modifications on protein function, generating inventories of proteomes to reveal signaling pathways that influence neuron physiology.
