Biography

Harry Taylor joined the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work as an assistant professor in 2021. His research focuses on the prevalence and risk factors associated with social isolation and loneliness among older adult Black Americans, aiming to increase public awareness of these issues and inform risk assessments, intervention programs, and policies to mitigate the adverse health effects of social isolation and loneliness. Dr. Taylor primarily utilizes quantitative techniques to analyze nationally representative panel data. He earned his PhD from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis, and holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan, a Master of Public Health from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Howard University. Dr. Taylor has received extramural funding for his research from the National Institute of Aging, and his work has been published in peer-reviewed outlets such as the Journal of Gerontology: Social Sciences, Journal of Aging & Health, and the Annual Review of Gerontology and Geriatrics. His work has also been featured in publications such as Public Health Post and Aging News World Reports.
