Dr. Harveer Dev

Biography

Harveer graduated BA(Hons) in Natural Sciences in 2008 and MB BChir in 2011 from the University of Cambridge, where he completed his basic surgical training at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. He developed a research interest in the role of DNA repair in cancer during his time as a Fulbright Scholar at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, USA. He also served as a Wellcome Trust Doctoral Fellow at the Gurdon Institute in Cambridge, UK. Currently, he is a Clinical Lecturer focused on early cancer detection at the University of Cambridge and has been recognized as a Prostate Cancer Foundation Young Investigator in 2021. His research is positioned within a surgical translational research group that aims to improve outcomes for patients with lethal prostate cancer. He utilizes patient-derived cellular models and clinical trial specimens to study high-risk prostate cancers and their response to therapies. His work focuses particularly on therapies targeting the DNA damage response pathway and gene mutations linked to aggressive disease, as well as predicting clinical responses. He employs cutting-edge technologies, including multi-omic sequencing approaches and CRISPR-Cas9 gene-editing, to gain insights into early high-risk cancer cohorts through the use of primary organoids. He engages in ongoing collaborations with pharmaceutical industry partners and groups within the Alliance for Cancer Early Detection.
