Biography

Hasan Khatib is a Professor and Vice Chair in the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He earned his Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Ph.D. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His current research focuses on exploring the role of epigenetics in the production, reproduction, and health traits of livestock. Among his particular interests is the transgenerational impact of paternal and maternal nutrition on phenotypes in subsequent generations. Notably, his team demonstrated that sperm DNA methylation patterns can be altered by paternal diet and inherited transgenerationally in sheep. Dr. Khatib is also engaged in identifying epigenetic markers that can predict embryo development and fertility using non-invasive methods. He has served as an editor for books such as 'Livestock Epigenetics' and 'Molecular Quantitative Animal Genetics'.
