Biography

Hashim Mohamed is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He has a B.Sc. in Mechatronics, an M.Sc. in Systems & Control, and a Ph.D. in Robotics & Control. Previously, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering & Applied Science at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) in Kamloops, British Columbia. As the founder and director of the Robotics and Control Systems Laboratory (RNCSL), Dr. Mohamed's research is focused on developing novel technologies related to perception and control systems, particularly for smart systems that include semi-automated and fully autonomous vehicles. His academic interests include guidance, perception and control for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), mobile robots, and related applications. He has a strong emphasis on robot localization and mapping, filtering and estimation techniques, sensor fusion, and multi-agent systems. Dr. Mohamed is also interested in artificial intelligence and optimization techniques, contributing significantly to the field of robotics through his research and publications.
