Hassan Aoude joined the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Ottawa as an Assistant Professor in August 2009. He obtained his PhD from McGill University in 2008 and his Master’s degree from École de Technologie Supérieure (Montreal, Canada) in 2004. His main research interests focus on the structural use of high performance fiber reinforced concretes, particularly in extreme load applications, such as seismic and blast performances. His interests include seismic blast resistant design and retrofit of concrete structures, structural safety of concrete parking structures, rehabilitation of concrete structures, and seismic risk assessment for concrete masonry structures. In addition to his research work, Dr. Aoude teaches at the University of Ottawa, where he is committed to innovative teaching methods, including hybrid and online learning. He promotes a positive learning environment to support the success of his students and help prepare them for their future careers.
