Dr. Hayley Cullen

Biography

Hayley Cullen is a Lecturer in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Macquarie University. She previously worked as an Associate Lecturer in the School of Psychological Sciences at the University of Newcastle and has held positions as a casual academic research assistant at the University of Sydney and as a Lecturer at the Australian College of Applied Psychology. Cullen has extensive teaching experience at the undergraduate and honours levels, covering diverse topics such as Cognitive Science, Forensic Psychology, Criminal Psychology, Memory, Research Methods, Emotion, Personality, Psychometric Assessment, Sex, Gender, Sexuality, Substance Use, and Addiction. She aims to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that helps students develop real-world skills for application in their professional careers. Her current research interests lie at the intersection of psychology and law, specifically focusing on wrongful convictions, eyewitness identification, and legal reforms to enhance justice and prevent miscarriages of justice. Cullen has published various research outputs, presented at numerous conferences, and has been featured in media for her expertise in psychological phenomena associated with wrongful convictions. She is also involved in supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students in their research projects and participates actively in university committees related to equity and diversity.
