Biography

Hayriye Cagnan studied Electrical Electronics Engineering at Cornell University as a Fulbright Scholar, specializing in signal processing and biomedical engineering from 2000 to 2004. In 2004, she was awarded the British Chevening scholarship to pursue an M.Sc. in Engineering Physical Science Medicine at Imperial College London. Hayriye completed her Ph.D. in Neuroscience with a joint placement at the University of Amsterdam and Philips Research Laboratories in December 2010. Following this, she joined the University of Oxford as a postdoctoral researcher, focusing on tremor pathophysiology. In 2015, Hayriye received the MRC Skills Development Fellowship in Biomedical Informatics, situated at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging at University College London. By 2018, she had established her independent research group, the MRC Brain Network Dynamics Unit at the University of Oxford, after being awarded the MRC Career Development Award. In 2023, Hayriye joined the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London as a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor).
