Biography

Heather Cleland Woods graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Glasgow in 2006 and completed an MSc in Research Methods in Psychological Science. She earned her PhD under the supervision of Professors Stephany Biello and Colin Espie in 2011. Heather is the Head of the School of Psychology & Neuroscience and Director of Education in the same school. Her research interests focus on understanding the development and maintenance of factors contributing to poor sleep. Currently, she explores the relationship between sleep quality and behavior in adolescents and adults, notably through the #sleepyteens project. In her teaching role, she supervises both undergraduate and postgraduate students, placing a strong emphasis on the connection between sleep, brain function, and behavior.
