Biography

Heather McLeod-Kilmurray is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa. She is the Co-Director of the Centre for Environmental Law and Global Sustainability (CELGS). Her research focuses on food law, including issues surrounding food waste, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), industrial factory farming, toxic torts, and environmental justice. McLeod-Kilmurray has co-authored a significant text on Canadian Law of Toxic Torts with Professor Lynda Collins and edited 'Food Law and Policy in Canada' with Professors Nathalie Chalifour and Angela Lee. She serves as a member of the Environmental Protection Tribunal Canada and part-time member of the Ontario Environmental Review Tribunal. Additionally, she is on the Board of the Canadian Association for Food Law and Policy and is also a member of the Ottawa Food Policy Council. McLeod-Kilmurray teaches courses that include Climate Change, Legal Change, Torts, and Interdisciplinary Studies in Law: Food Law. Her scholarly contributions include book chapters, articles, opinion pieces, and reports, centering on various aspects of food law and environmental policy.
