Biography

Heather Rollwagen is an Associate Professor at Toronto Metropolitan University, where she also serves as the Associate Dean of Programs in the Yeates School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Her academic background includes a BA from Queen’s University, an MA from the University of Waterloo, and a PhD from the University of Calgary. Dr. Rollwagen's research focuses on housing tenure—exploring whether homes are owned, rented, or occupied—and its social implications, particularly regarding fear of crime and perceptions of neighborhood livability in urban areas. She employs both qualitative and quantitative research methods to study the association between built forms of housing and fear of crime, examining how the ideologies surrounding housing tenure relate to crime risks.
