Dr. Heather Tookes

Biography

Heather E. Tookes is a Professor of Finance at the Yale School of Management, a position she has held since 2004. Her research encompasses a diverse range of topics within capital markets and corporate finance, with particular emphasis on security issuance, mergers and acquisitions, and product market spillovers. She has a strong interest in credit default swaps and convertible bond markets, studying how market frictions influence corporations' financing decisions. Professor Tookes has explored issues such as trader borrowing linked to margin trading and the impacts of stock market liquidity during crises. Her scholarly work addresses critical subjects including student loan forbearance, the effectiveness of COVID-19 business restrictions, and the dynamics of gender in finance. Beyond her research, she is a dedicated educator, having received multiple teaching awards for her work with MBA and EMBA students. Professor Tookes has also served as the Deputy Dean for Faculty Affairs at Yale SOM and has been active in various professional organizations, including the American Finance Association and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's Financial Advisory Round Table. Her commitment to advancing the field of finance is reflected in her editorial roles with leading journals and her service on numerous corporate and non-profit boards.
