Biography

Professor Heather C Whalley graduated in Neuroscience from the University of Edinburgh and subsequently completed her MSc Research (with distinction) and PhD in Neuroimaging from the Division of Psychiatry at the Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences. She has held prestigious fellowships including the Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Fellowship and the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh JMAS SIM Fellowship. Currently, she serves as Chief Scientist for Generation Scotland. Her research focuses on addressing the major global health challenge of mental ill health, particularly during adolescence. Professor Whalley's work involves linking neuroimaging, genomics, molecular and electronic/computational phenotyping, and youth engagement to enhance the understanding and treatment of mental ill health.
