Biography

Heather M. Whitney is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Chicago. She conducts research in medical physics with a focus on artificial intelligence, computer-aided diagnosis, and diagnostic imaging. She received her PhD in Physics and her Master's degree in Medical Physics from Vanderbilt University. Her research primarily entails computer-aided diagnosis for breast and ovarian cancer, utilizing dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging and ultrasound imaging. Dr. Whitney is actively involved in collaborations with UChicago faculty across various fields, including gynecology and hematology/oncology. Additionally, she collaborates with the Medical Imaging Data Resource Center (MIDRC) to enhance research methodologies for AI in medical imaging. Throughout her career, she has received several awards and has contributed extensively to the field through numerous publications.
