Professor Dr. Heather Whitney

Biography

Heather M. Whitney is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Chicago. She holds a PhD in Physics from Vanderbilt University, where she also received her Master of Science in Medical Physics. Dr. Whitney's research primarily focuses on artificial intelligence applications in medical imaging, particularly in developing computer-aided diagnosis systems for breast and ovarian cancer. She has a strong interest in dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging and ultrasound imaging techniques. In addition to her research, Dr. Whitney collaborates with faculty across various departments at the University of Chicago, working on projects that address ethical considerations in medical imaging and health disparities. She has contributed to the Medical Imaging Data Resource Center, enhancing methods for data interoperability and promoting AI research in medical imaging. Dr. Whitney is a recognized member of the academic community, participating in initiatives aimed at advancing bioimaging research and fostering research collaboration.
