Dr. Hector Amaya

Biography

Hector Amaya is a professor in the Department of American Studies and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California. He serves as the Director of the Annenberg School of Communication. His academic work focuses on the intersections of transnationalism, Latinx Studies, and immigration culture. With a strong background in globalization and media studies, Amaya has authored several books and published numerous articles that address issues pertaining to Latin American media and comparative media studies. He is actively engaged in researching topics related to nativism, violence, media ethnicity, publicity, citizenship, and the materialities of identity in the context of new media. Amaya's contributions to these areas of study reflect a deep commitment to understanding the complexities of culture and identity within contemporary society.
