Dr. Hector Iacovides

Biography

Hector Iacovides is a Professor in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering at the University of Manchester, specializing in Convective Heat Transfer. He graduated from University College London with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and later obtained a Master of Science in Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics from UMIST. He completed his Doctorate with a focus on the study of turbulent flow heat transfer in U-Bends. Prof. Iacovides's research includes Computational Fluid Dynamics, turbulence modeling, and experimental investigations into fluid flow phenomena. He has contributed significantly to the understanding of heat transfer in nuclear engineering contexts and has received recognition for his scientific contributions, including an award from the Heat Transfer Society of Japan. His role extends beyond academia as he is a member of the Nuclear Innovation Research Advisory Board and has been involved in various research projects dealing with advanced energy systems. Prof. Iacovides has actively participated in organizing conferences and workshops to disseminate knowledge and foster collaboration in the field of mechanical engineering.
