Biography

Professor Han obtained a B.S. degree in Chemistry from the College of Natural Sciences at Seoul National University, Korea, graduating summa cum laude as Valedictorian. After moving to Cambridge, USA, he pursued graduate work in Physical Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was a Samsung KASF fellow under the guidance of Prof. Moungi G. Bawendi. There, he developed new quantum dot-based imaging probes and a phenotypic, intravital cytometric imaging platform. Following his doctoral studies, Han worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University with Prof. David Weitz, where he developed a drop-based microfluidic platform for high-throughput genome sequencing. Currently, Han is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where his group focuses on developing and implementing new bioanalytical technologies to dissect molecular and cellular mechanisms that drive ensemble behavior in complex biological systems.
