Dr. Hee Young Park

Biography

Hee-Young Park is a Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, where she also serves as the Chair of the Medical Sciences & Education Department. With a PhD and BS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Park has dedicated nearly two decades to biomedical research, focusing on the signaling pathways and factors that control skin color, aging, and cutaneous wound healing. Her research has led to significant contributions regarding the role of serine/threonine kinases as crucial enzymes affecting transcription factors. Beyond her research, Dr. Park is deeply committed to education and mentorship, guiding graduate students, medical students, and post-doctoral fellows and actively participating in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in STEM fields. As Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs, she oversees faculty appointments and promotion processes, promoting academic advancement through workshops and individual mentorship. Dr. Park has also developed STEM programs for high school students to enhance their engagement with health sciences and biomedical research, working toward increasing representation of underrepresented groups. Her dedication to education and research has made a significant impact on both the academic community and the students she mentors.
