Biography

Hee Yeon Im is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia and an investigator at the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute. She received her PhD from Johns Hopkins University in 2013. Dr. Im’s research primarily focuses on understanding how the temporal and spatial characteristics of brain functions allow individuals to interact with the world. Her work addresses critical questions regarding sensory systems, including how they extract coherent, goal-relevant information from fleeting moments and how the motor system influences sensory perception. Additionally, her research investigates the emergence of perception-action links during typical and atypical brain development. Dr. Im employs various methodologies, such as magnetoencephalography (MEG) and functional MRI, and conducts studies involving both typical development and brain disorders in adults and children. Publications and further details about her research can be found on the Interactive Mind & Movement Lab website.
