Heidi Bohaker investigates the history of Indigenous-Crown relations, treaties, and federal provincial government policies affecting Indigenous peoples in Canada. She is the Director of the Osgoode Society for Canadian Legal History and teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses focused on treaty history and Canadian legal history, including the history of residential schools. As a practitioner of digital humanities, Bohaker explores the use of new technologies in collaboration with Great Lakes Nations to reconnect communities with aspects of their cultural heritage stored in museums and archives. She is actively involved with the Great Lakes Research Alliance for the Study of Aboriginal Arts and Cultures as a co-founder and current co-director, working alongside Professor Cara Krmpotich. Bohaker is also accepting PhD and MA students, supervising a variety of research topics related to Indigenous rights and activism.
