Biography

Heidi Campbell is a Professor of Communication at Texas A&M University, where she also serves as affiliate faculty in Religious Studies and holds the title of Presidential Impact Fellow. She is the director of the Network for New Media, Religion, and Digital Culture Studies and the founder of the Digital Religion studies initiative. Her research explores the intersection of digital mobile media and religion, with particular emphasis on how religious groups, including Jewish, Muslim, and Christian communities, negotiate their use of new technologies. As a co-editor of Routledge’s Religion and Digital Culture book series and contributor to the Journal of Religion, Media & Digital Culture, Campbell has authored over 100 articles and books, including 'Religion Meets New Media' (2010) and 'Digital Religion' (2013, 2nd edition 2021). Her work has been featured in major media outlets, including the Houston Chronicle, The Guardian, Wall Street Journal, and BBC World Service. She has received accolades such as the RCA Scholar of the Year Award and Texas A&M’s Transformational Teaching Award.
