Biography

Heidi Diez is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy and a Clinical Pharmacist Specialist at Michigan Medicine. With over 14 years of experience, she has established pharmacy services at four primary care sites within Michigan Medicine. Dr. Diez currently practices at Domino’s Farms Family Medicine, where she is recognized as an expert in diabetes care, particularly for patients with type 2 diabetes. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from the University of Michigan and completed a PGY1 residency in community pharmacy practice at the University of Washington. She is also a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist, actively involved in quality improvement initiatives and serves as a representative on various committees focused on diabetes care. Her dedication to teaching is evident in her role as a mentor to Pharmacy and Medical students, as well as PGY1 and PGY2 Pharmacy residents. Dr. Diez has been honored with several awards for her contributions to the field, including the 2023 Bowl of Hygeia Award from the Michigan Pharmacists Association. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring new restaurants, playing games with family, and participating in outdoor activities such as cycling and scuba diving. Her passion for patient advocacy and improving care continues to drive her work and community efforts.
