Biography

Heidi Kiiwetinepinesiik Stark is an Associate Professor in Indigenous Governance at the University of Victoria. She is Turtle Mountain Ojibwe and received her PhD in American Studies from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in 2008. Her doctoral research focused on Anishinaabe treaty-making in the United States and Canada, which serves as the foundation for her manuscript titled 'Unsettled: Anishinaabe Treaty-Relations U.S./Canada State-Formation', currently in progress with the University of Minnesota Press as part of their Peoples Series. Her work critically engages with the intersections of Indigenous governance and historical treaty relations.
