Dr. Heiko Schneider

Biography

Heiko Schneider is a Senior Attending Physician in the Department of Cardiology at the University Hospital Zurich. He specializes in the care of adults with congenital heart defects, employing catheter-based techniques for invasive diagnosis and treatment of structural heart disease. He completed his medical education at Rostock and Leipzig, followed by specialized training in Manchester and at the Royal Brompton Hospital, England. He has undertaken a fellowship in Invasive Diagnostics and Structural Intervention at Toronto General Hospital, Canada. Dr. Schneider holds a PhD in translational research focusing on heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias from the University of Manchester. His research interests include catheter-based therapy concepts for heart failure, outcomes-based research for congenital heart defects, and the development of interventions tailored to adult patients with congenital heart issues. He is an active member of various professional organizations, including the European Society of Cardiology, and is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK.
