Biography

Helen Longino is the Clarence Irving Lewis Professor of Philosophy, Emerita, at Stanford University. She received her BA from Barnard College in 1966, her MA in Philosophy from Sussex University in 1967, and her PhD from Johns Hopkins University in 1973. Longino's teaching and research interests include philosophy of science, social epistemology, and feminist philosophy. She has authored several significant works including 'Science as Social Knowledge' (Princeton University Press, 1990), 'The Science as Social Knowledge' (2001), and 'Studying Human Behavior' (University of Chicago Press, 2013), which explores the relationship between logical, epistemological, and social aspects of behavioral research. Her current research focuses on the intersections of feminist philosophy and science, particularly in addressing sustainability issues in developing countries.
