Biography

Helena Langewitz is an Assistant in Music Theater and an Erasmus Representative at the Institute of Musicology at the University of Bern, Switzerland. She serves as the co-spokesperson for the Music Theatre Working Group of the Gesellschaft der Theaterwissenschaft (GTW). In January 2022, she took on a postdoctoral research assistant position for a DFG-funded project exploring the interrelations of garden and music theater at the Dresden court in the 17th and 18th centuries. Langewitz completed her doctorate at the University of Bern, where her thesis focused on the interplay of nature and garden representations in music theater during the summer residence of Prince Elector Carl Theodor of the Palatinate and Elisabeth Augusta. With prior experience as a research assistant on multiple projects at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, she has a strong academic background in music and theater studies from the University of Vienna. Her research interests focus on music theater of the 17th and 18th centuries, contemporary productions, baroque opera, and garden opera.
