Biography

Helene Plun-Favreau is a cell biologist with a robust academic background in signal transduction and neurodegeneration. She completed her PhD at Angers University in France. Following her doctoral studies, she undertook postdoctoral work with Professor Julian Downward at Cancer Research UK, focusing on discoveries in neurodegeneration. In 2007, she joined University College London's Institute of Neurology as a part of the Department of Molecular Neuroscience, where she was awarded the MRC Career Development Fellowship. Her research has significantly contributed to understanding molecular pathways related to mitophagy and mitochondrial dysfunctions in neurodegenerative disorders. Utilizing live cell microscopy and complex molecular cellular biology techniques, her work provides comprehensive insights into the pathways involved in the pathogenesis of neurodegeneration.
