Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Helge Stein. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Professor Helge Stein develops experimental, computer-aided methods for the accelerated discovery, characterization, and upscaling of new and improved materials for catalysis and secondary batteries. His work incorporates experimental data collected via self-developed robots, evaluated using machine learning algorithms, and stored in a semantically searchable database for effective data management. The overarching goal of his research is to establish a global, decentralized materials acceleration platform (MAP) that spans from discovery to production. Professor Stein studied physics at the Georg-August University Göttingen from 2008 to 2013, where he completed his doctorate in 2017 with a focus on high-throughput methods in mechanical engineering, graduating summa cum laude from Ruhr University Bochum. In 2017, he accepted a tenure-track professorship in applied electrochemistry at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, furthering his research at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in 2020. In 2023, he was appointed to the professorship of Digital Catalysis at the Technical University of Munich (TUM).
