Dr. Helge Wurdemann

Biography

Helge Wurdemann is a roboticist who began an academic tenure-track position at University College London (UCL) in 2016 within the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He is a core member of the robotics team at UCL and is involved in developing innovative robotic hardware. Wurdemann has made significant contributions to high-impact journals and leading robotic conferences, with over 100 publications including peer-reviewed articles and conference papers. He has been an invited speaker at numerous conferences, delivering 53 keynote talks, and has chaired important events such as the ICRA 2023 conference. In recognition of his expertise, he was invited to serve as an Associate Vice President of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society from 2018 to 2021. Wurdemann has a strong track record in securing competitive funding and is an active peer reviewer for several high-impact journals and international funding bodies. He previously held a part-time project manager position for a EU project and was instrumental in coordinating a research consortium during this role. His academic achievements have contributed to the establishment of the Soft Haptics & Robotics Lab at UCL, which is noted for its significant growth and success in research activities.
