Dr. Helle Dam

Biography

Helle Vrønning Dam is a Professor at Aarhus University, specializing in interpreting and translation studies. She directs the master's program in conference interpreting and is a founding member of the research program focusing on communication in international business professions. Her teaching encompasses interpreting, translation, business communication, and research methodology. Professor Dam's research addresses various aspects of translation and interpreting, examining sociological, linguistic, and cognitive dimensions, and she has authored and edited numerous publications in these fields. She has served on the Executive Board of the European Society for Translation Studies from 2013 to 2019 and chaired the organizing committee for the 8th EST Congress in 2016. Additionally, she has held various leadership roles including head of department and vice dean at the Aarhus School of Business. Professor Dam is also involved in the Education Board for a sign-language speech-to-text interpreting program at Copenhagen University College, representing Aarhus University within CIUTI. In 2014, she received the Hedorf Foundation’s national prize for excellence in research concerning international business communication languages.
