Helle Hasager Damkier is an Associate Professor at Aarhus University. Her research focuses on specific membrane transporters involved in the secretion and pH regulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) produced by the choroid plexus in the brain. Utilizing both in vivo and in vitro methods, her primary aim is to define the role of acid-base transporters in CSF regulation and its implications for health and disease. Collaborative efforts include working with Prof. Bonnie Blazer-Yost from Indiana University to understand membrane transporter regulation in the choroid plexus and collaborating with Prof. Brian Hansen at CFIN, AU, who specializes in MRI scanning to visualize the brain ventricular system in mouse disease models. Additionally, she works with Prof. Jeppe Prætorius from the Department of Biomedicine at AU to identify molecular targets for inhibiting CSF production. In addition to research, Damkier leads a course on gross anatomy and histology for second semester medical students and is a member of the censor corps for medical education in Denmark, serving as the deputy chairperson of the Censor Board.
Department of Computer Science offers tracks in Software Efficiency, Cryptography, and Data Science.
