Biography

Helle Vogt holds a chair in legal history at the University of Copenhagen. She obtained her PhD in 2005. Her research primarily focuses on comparative studies of Nordic law and legal practices, especially during the medieval and early modern periods. A significant part of her work concerns penal laws, kinship, and the interplay of religious norms and learned law. Between 2012 and 2016, she led a project that translated Danish medieval laws into English, published in 2016. Furthermore, from 2003 to 2015, she was the chief organizer of 11 Carlsberg Academy Conferences on Medieval Legal History. She teaches and supervises courses in legal history, penal law, comparative law, and legal culture, contributing actively to academic collaborations and projects in these fields.
